15 November 2011- ACODO Farm Update


We are now feeding 2,200Kgof baby fish or 1,100,000 baby fish (1Kg of baby fish = 500 baby fish) on ACODOfarm.


The ACODO farm is going to be our principlesource of income in the future. Once completed, the farm will be able to supportACODO in two ways. Firstly, we will be able to grow all our own food in orderto support the children at both the ACODO Orphanage and the ACODO CommunityTraining Centers. Secondly, we will be able to sell the extra food at localmarkets which will provide another source of urgently needed revenue.

 




31 Oct - 02 Nov 2011: Swiss Cottage Secondary School in Singapore


31 students and 3 teachers from Swiss Cottage Secondary School volunteer at ACODO orphanage in Siem Reap from 31 Oct - 02 Nov 2011. Some children help to build the fence of thelibrary & computer room and some teach English to the children.

The school also offered donation for the construction of the fence, one set of computer and computer desk.



ACODO is appealing for assistance with food relief for the children by the flooding waters


Some parts of Siem Reap, especially theareas along Tonle Sap Lake has been flooded. The orphanage will be inundated ifthe Siem Reap river, which flows close to the orphanage, continues to rise. Theorphanage is being fortified with sandbags and some outer areas of theorphanage have already been flooded.

 

ACODO depends 100% on donations from ourfundraising show but there is now no visitors and no performance in theorphanage.

 

We have appealed for assistance to providedaily food to our children by the rising waters.




MEYLINH FROM ACODO WAS AWARDED THE NYIS GOLD MEDAL


Many of our students throughout the year gained excellent results throughout the year and after the final exams, eight ACODO children gained 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in their respective grade.  What a wonderful achievement!  We would like to take the opportunity now to say congratulations to the following children:

 

All the children at NYIS Siem Reap who received top places were asked to sit a second examinationand invited to Phnom Penh for the end of year award ceremony. They returned tothe orphanage today with very exciting news. Each had received a Certificate of Achievement for their excellentresults and we are all very proud of them. Additionally, one of our students received the top honours overall.


 News Orphanage Floods  

October 2010 - Floods


Heavy rainfall causes our orphanage to be severely flooded.

We urgently require financial assistance for our daily food bill as we are unable to collect donations from our highly recommended free evening show. 


   

September 2010 - New ACODO Farm


ACODO opens it's own farm. We will soon be able to start growing our own vegetables and breed our own animals.

 

Initially we have rented 4.4 hectares of fertile land. We are now attempting to raising enough money so that buy the entire 23.56 hectare site.

 

This is a significant step towards our objective of operating on a self sufficent basis. 


   

September 2010 - New Classrooms


Linda Look, from Australia, kindly donates $5,290 USD.

We are now able to so build three replacement classrooms and a restaurant, which will serve evening meals for guests who visit our daily evening show. 


  

September 2010 - Private School

 
ACODO successfully raises enough money through it's "Sponsor a Child" programe for all their wonderful children to attend the New York International School, a highly regarded local private school.

All the ACODO kids really will recieve a high quality education. These classes will continue to be supplemented by English Language lessons taught at our orphanage by volunteers from around the world.
 


  

August 2010 - Cultural Exchange


ACODO completes a ten day cultural exchange with the world famous Cloud Dance Theatre group from Taiwan. 


Dance troupes from both organizations performed together a total of five times in Siem Reap and undertook a number of workshops together.

  

July 2010 - New Sleeping Facilities


The new accommodation block for all the children at our orphanage is successfully completed.

A ceremony, performed by local monks, was held to bless the new building before it was used.
